Bulkhead A

Because of the unpredictable nature of the hull ply material, the shape of the bow was not what the design indicated. I made the mistake of cutting out the bulkheads before stitching up the hull, and the forward most one of them, bulkhead A was way out. A second one had to be cut to fit the hull shape properly. I notice that Sam Devlin says in his book that all bulkheads should be measured against the actual hull shape before they are cut out, because of just this problem. The old adage of "measure twice, cut once" works all the time. Pity I didn't remember it.

The view here shows the original bulkhead A. The two tabs on the inside of the hull bottom
are where the cords were attached to pull the hollows out. Without them, bulkhead A still
did not fit. It was forced up by the inward bulging panels instead.

The second bulkhead A was a better fit.
